Baja California has it all, from open deserts to endless beaches. This land of mountains, waterfalls and lagoons is an ideal destination for explorers and adventure seekers.
The people and culture of Baja California have embraced the sport of desert racing and made it almost the state official sport.
Baja California is where the world’s longest non stop race, the Baja 1000 took place for more than 45 years. It also hosts the Baja 500 and the Baja 250 beside other smaller races organized locally.
The sport of off-road racing and desert racing in general has been taking one hit after another whether from Environmentalists who would like to ban the sport all together in the USA, Canada and other places, or from thieves and terrorist who threaten the safety of competitors in north Africa and parts of Asia.
That leaves Baja California is one of the few places in the world that still welcome and cherish desert racing.
When racers come to Baja for the first time, they are usually surprised by the hospitality of the Mexican people and the freedom to do much more than allowed in many other places around the world.
